The Australian bush reveals many beautiful and fascinating plants and animals.  Living in the bush immerses you in its daily rhythm.

Join us as we explore the flora and fauna around us on our bush land, Istari, in the Clarence Valley, northern NSW, Australia.

We can't leave out the rest of the beautiful Clarence Valley either.

Istari was largely cleared as the early European timber getters removed the largest trees then further cleared for dairy farming along the creek flats. The land was too poor to sustain dairy cattle so became marginal beef cattle land.

Cattle were removed in the mid 1980s and the land was able to commence recovery, producing a number of different habitats and growing bio-diversity.

Australian Bush Life is our way to document life in our surrounds and expose others to this wonderful world.  The site will be added to as we further explore.

Flora shows plants, mosses and fungi found around the area. Find out what is flowering now.

Fauna shows our wonderful animals and insects.

Join us living in among our bush world, from floods to fires, a new joey or a flock of Whistling Plumed Ducks at our Letter from Istari.

Take a visual journey with our Galleries which changes regularly.
